Hey Y’all!!!

It’s been a while so I wanted to stop by and say hello. I hope by now everyone has had a chance to see my new video Nemesis. If not, make sure you stop by YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQAAg3k7v0s to check it out. I’ll try to embed it at the end of this post to make it easier for you ;-) . Once you’ve viewed it, please leave a comment to tell me what you think.

This past Thursday, I was driving my son to school when I saw a young lady trying to make her way across the street. She was trying to make it across before the light turned green, but was quite heavy (obese) and couldn’t make her way as quickly as I’m sure she’d like. By the time she finally made it across, she was so out of breath that she had to hold on to a light post to gather her composure. The saddest part is that the young lady couldn’t have been anymore than 20 years old. A few moments later after dropping my son off, I went to the local pharmacy to pick up a few items. When I got to the cash register, the attendant tried to coerce me to take advantage of their sale: “Buy 3 Kit Kat bars and get a free pill box”. Hmmm? Anyone ever stop think that maybe if I weren’t wolfing down three Kit Kat bars, I wouldn’t need the pills that go in the box???

All of this saddened me.There is no reason a 16 to 20-year-old shouldn’t be able to run around the block…let alone across the street. I remember when I was around that age,  I couldn’t put on weight to save my life! (we see that changed! – lol). But yes, contrary to what many of you who only learned of me recently, I was a tiny little thing. I’ll post the pictures to prove it.  Over the years, I , like so many others became lazy with my eating habits and physical activity. I took food for granted and was only concerned with how good it tasted. But family experiences would later show me the unfortunate effects of  not being mindful of your weight and health early on. Both of my maternal grandparents – though not considerably overweight, died from complications of Type 2 Diabetes as a result of poor eating habits when they were younger. That harsh reality was the beginning of my recognition that I must plant the seeds of my future TODAY.

I’ve lost approximately 50lbs since the Winter of 2008 simply by eliminating junk foods. Literally – I did nothing more than that and experienced a dramatic change. And after my experiences on Thursday, I’m inspired to take it a step further and recommit to my efforts of taking off a few more pounds. Don’t get me wrong – I LOVE the curvier, grown woman version of present me; I look and feel like a woman. But in holding on to these curves, I must ensure that they aren’t blocking the path to optimal health. In addition to being a woman, I am a daughter, sister, mother and artist who must remain healthy not only for my sake, but for the sake of those who love and depend on me! My goal is to hear the doctor say “All’s well and looks great – keep up the good work”. Until then, the journey continues…and I won’t resign!

Much Love & Light!

July 2010

Good Morning Tiffany Monique family! I haven’t been here for a few days because I’ve been hard working at this EP and on my own health and fitness. I don’t have much time now, but wanted to shoot you a quick hello and will soon be updating you on my latest venture – getting ready for the Nemesis video shoot! Stay Tuned! Love Ya!

Listening to: Nemesis

This is Tiffany Moníque! Welcome and thank you for visiting my blog. I know I’ve been promising to post here for quite sometime and I have intended to but fortunately, I’ve had alot going on lately due to my new release, Nemesis. By now, I’m sure you all have it – but if not you can feel free to order a hard copy at http://www.tiffanymonique.com/tiffmo_order.html or download it on iTunes. Anyway, I intend for this blog to be very consistent, informal, transparent and interactive. As time goes along, I’ll look forward to coming here, kicking my shoes off and chatting with you all like we’re old time friends. And I hope you will do the same…

So how will I kick off this initial blog? I guess there’s no time better than the present – let’s talk about what’s going on now. My EP, Nemesis, was released worldwide on June 15th and since that time, I’ve been promoting it and pursuing its viral presence around the world.  This is a grassroots movement, which means there is no major funding, budget, team or backing. My partner, Kevin “Kwiz” Ryan and I are building this venture from the ground up, digging into our savings and using the labor of friends and family who thankfully believe in me and this project. Going it “alone”  has its rewards and challenges. The reward is similar to raising a young child into a successful adult…you rear the child from the beginning when he/she can do very little, knows very little and there are many challenges. You are responsible for establishing the foundation of everything they will ever become. But once that child is a successful adult, you can sit back with pride and reap the benefits of the hard work and investments. I decided to pursue my career independently because I wanted to show everyone that I could be all I wanted to be and wanted a hands-on approach as to how my career and image are structured. I wanted the world to see the REAL me and any changes/growth I experience in the coming years. Does this mean I wouldn’t take advantage of a major opportunity? Of course not – but it does allow everyone to see who I am and their decision to work with me will be based on who I am and what I desire to become.

The challenge of building this venture from the ground up is as I said before – there’s no major funding, support, distribution or a massive team to delegate everything to. All that has to be done must be done by myself and those who simply believe in me (Thank you!). For me, this has very bi-polar characteristics because it forces me to be freely creative while trying to run a structured business. I’ve had to learn how to be the artist AND the executive…how to pose sexily for a shot, then demand that my image not be misrepresented….how to be interviewed then double back to ensure that my words weren’t misinterpreted…how to pose for the album cover and then crack open Photoshop and create the album cover. Completing this EP, I admit, has been very challenging and there have been times when I’ve considered giving up ..or at least delaying the project because of lack of resources. But as always, God found a way to meet the need, brought a few professionals into my circle and my team and I were able to pull off a body of work that I’m very proud of. I won’t be able to compete with the big leagues at THIS moment, but I believe I will be able to very soon and ask for your support in helping me get there. Please help me promote this EP by purchasing it, telling your friends about it and urging them to purchase it, calling radio stations and asking them to play it, telling other writer or bloggers  that you want to see a feature done on Tiffany Moníque, and posting it on your Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and other social network pages. I, in turn, work very hard in being someone and giving you something that you’re PROUD of promoting.

I’m very excited about this phase of my life – where I am and where I’m headed. I have my moments, but remain encouraged and I’m overwhelmed by the success and visibility of Nemesis so far.  I’m thankful for the hard work  and support of my team:  my sidekick/ producer/manager/partner – Kevin “Kwiz” Ryan of Rhythm 252 Music Group,  my production team, Kwiz, Marlin Smith and Tony Carter of Digital Khaoss Productions, my web designer Byll Saunders, my publicist Gwendolyn Quinn and my parents, family and friends who have all stepped in to function in whatever capacity I needed them to. I also cannot forget to acknowledge the blessings I’ve received by being apart of Beyoncé’s touring family. As one of “The Mamas”,  I’m thankful for the love, lessons  and support each member of the Beyoncé cast and crew has instilled in me.  I’m also personally thankful to Beyoncé and her family for their genuine love, support and encouragment to let my voice be heard. I believe that I will be very successful because of the faith and investments of myself, those in my village and YOU!

In the coming days and weeks, I have alot planned: interviews, promoting this EP, assembling a band, performances and starting work for my full length-album.  I’m also taking a hardcore, dedicated approach to my health and diet as I prepare for my video for Nemesis in July (more details on that later). I’m currently on a 10 day fast, which is extremely challenging but allowing me to think more clearly about what’s going on in my life and how to execute the next steps. I ‘m working nonstop and I look forward to hearing back from all of your with your words of love, encouragement, criticism and feedback – I’ll take it all! More importantly, I ask that you help me spread to the word to make Tiffany Moníque a household name. LET’S DO IT!

See ya!!
